These gel pads work pretty well. My nipples were really raw and sore and these really helped with the pain when I nursed my baby. But you can only wear each pair for 24 hours. So the package only lasts you two days. Soothies, on the other hand, are reusable for up to 3 weeks and are comparable in cost. I’d recommend those instead.

I used the lansinoh soothies for my first daughter when I was in terrible pain and saw relief almost immediately. This time around with my second I just auto ordered those and started using them and again felt relief during those first few days of breastfeeding.But I saw these on Amazon as well as thought I’d give them a try and this was my experience: 1 – Awkward shape: These are square and our breasts are round. Right away, there’s a construction problem. They don’t quite stick on as well as the lansinoh ones.
2 – Saw no improvement: I’m not sure why but I used these first and saw no relief until I used the lansinoh soothies.
3 – Not cold on contact: One of the best things around the lansinoh soothies was they once you take them off and before reusing they get cold so when you put them back on there’s a really nice cold feeling that’s relieving.
4 – No case/cover: The lansinoh soothies have a case/disc where you can place the soothies while breastfeeding before reusing which these don’t have so you really have to start thinking about where to put them while you’re nursing.

I started using LilyPadz when my first child was 4 months old. Once my milk production was stabilized, these were the only nursing pads I used. Now with my second child, I have been using the LilyPadz since birth. It is very rarely that I leak when wearing these pads. Leakage sometimes happens when I haven’t nursed for a long time and am starting to get engorged. The nice thing about these pads is that small leaks typically don’t make it outside of the area that the pad is adhered to until I remove the pad. With these pads, I don’t have to wear a nursing bra at night and they don’t slide around like the pads that fit inside the sleep bras. They are like a second skin, so no one can tell that I have a nursing pad on. All the other nursing pads would show thru my bras and look like I was padding my bra. They also work perfect for swimming, especially when I don’t have padded cups in my swimsuit. By applying constant pressure to the nipple (thereby smoothing it out), milk is typically not released. The only time I recommend not using the LilyPadz is when you’re engorged at the beginning of breastfeeding. I recommend using thick disposable pads at that time.I haven’t purchased any of the LilyPadz cleaning supplies. I just wash the pads with dish soap and warm water then let them air dry. I always have two pairs on hand so that I only have to wash them once a day. On average, I have been able to make them last for about 2 to 3 months per pair. |

I had a really rough time getting started with breastfeeding. I mean, *really* rough. I was a little skeptical whether these would help, but I am telling you, they made life worth living again!I had serious nipple pain and soreness due to a bad initial latch followed by an oversupply problem, leading to constant leaks. Having tender open wounds continually soaked in wetness was horribly painful to say the least. I would have traded unmedicated labor and delivery for the 6 weeks of pain I experienced from these issues. I was desperate for a solution and sick of changing my shirt four times a day (even with a towel tucked into my bra!).
Prior to these, I tried homemade cotton/flannel pads and some storebought cottony material reusable pads (which stick to your nipples when dry and rip off like a bandaid – ouch!) as well as the soothies/hydrogel nursing pads (which sting like the dickens, I think if any milk leaks), and Philips AVENT Comfort Breast Shells (which are supposed to just collect the milk in a reservoir but they’re ridiculous-looking and huge and you’re supposed to wear them a maximum of 40 minutes so they aren’t a solution even around the house – they really are for collecting milk from the opposite side during pumping/nursing). Going without anything left me with a soaked shirt and was just as painful to have fabric rubbing. These were unsatisfactory solutions. I balked at the price of the LilyPadz but was desperate enough to go ahead and I am glad I did.
Total bliss! First, they actually *prevent* milk leaks rather than just sopping them up. I was leaking an ounce or more at times, and the other pads that just try to soak up the liquid would fail. These Lilypadz apply pressure to the nipples and it actually works to prevent any milk leaking! They have their limits, so I did experience ‘blowouts’ at times where finally a whole gush would be released and leak out of these (hence a backup towel was still necessary when oversupply was at its peak), but there’s only so much you can expect from a pad; for lesser amounts it really worked to keep any milk from exiting the breast at all! Now that my supply is only a little over-much they work great to prevent all leaks.
Second, they vastly improved my comfort level. No stinging, no sticking to the nipple itself. Made it possible to wear a shirt comfortably, and also to keep that shirt dry most of the time.
They are rated to last 2 months if washed properly. I ruined mine within a week because I didn’t have the LilyWash and they gradually lost their stickiness (definitely buy the wash; it’s really necessary unless you have hand soap that is pure and lacks moisturizers and other additives). Still, this is an awesome product and I’m almost inclined to send the company a thank you card for making life worth living during a very tough time.
Helpful tip: I initially thought the product didn’t work AT ALL and almost returned it… because I did not remove the sticky flexible pad from its plastic storage base *blush*. Blame the postpartum sleep deprivation but it really looked like it was one piece but in reality you have to peel the pad off of the stiff plastic base prior to use. To be fair to myself, the instructions on the package are not at all clear about this but thankfully I figured it out!

But it was so important to me, so I went and bought everything imaginable to fix it. These were all I needed. If you are planning to breastfeed, BUY THESE! Not better than nipple creams,

I bought these after trying lanolin creams and nipple butter to see if I could get better relief for my sore nipples. But something in the pads make the tender spots in the nipples sting upon application, and taking off the pads is also a bit painful too, since the pads stick to the skin like mild tape. For me, wearing Medela soft shells after applying lanolin or nipple butter worked better.
And by the way, the pads can be “cut to size” as per Lansinoh’s instructions, but please don’t, because then the pads won’t stick to your breasts and you’ve just wasted the box. I tried this.

I had 2 sets of these sent home with me from the hospital and they were AMAZING! I found them so soothing for all of the soreness and cracking that comes with breastfeeding in those first few days/weeks. The paper breast pads just felt horrible on your sensitive nipples those first few weeks! They are cool on contact, which feels great! I did not ever have any problems with sticking upon removal, as some of the other reviewers mentioned. I always used mine at full size and did not cut to shape. I found this worked best. The only problem with that was that when you’re engorged and leaking at night, the milk will leak around the soothies & sometimes miss the breast pads leaving you waking up to a big mess! I wore both. I put the Soothies on first and a breast pad behind. It might be less of a surprise mess if you do cut them down a bit, but, they have a tendency to shift positions, so, I wouldn’t cut them down too much. Overall, a great product which provided much needed cool relief during the beginning stages of breastfeeding!

The Philips AVENT breast pads are useful for mothers who are nursing. The pads are absorbent, but not thick, which prevented embarrassing leaks. In addition they are packaged in small wrappers, which allowed me to discreetly carry them while on the go.However they are not without faults. The Philips AVENT breast pads were a bit uncomfortable. I found these pads to feel stiff at times. I prefer my pads go unnoticed, but there was a slight level of discomfort when first putting these on due to the stiff feeling, though they seemed to become more flexible after moving around during the day. In addition, the texture of the pads is not as soft as the Lansinoh pads I have been using for the past four months. The Philips AVENT pads felt a little scratchy at times. Finally, i did not like that these pads only had one adhesive strip. Due to this, the end without adhesive bunched up a couple of times during wear. I much prefer pads with two adhesive strips. All in all, the Philips AVENT pads provide leakage protection and are easy to carry around, but I would recommend trying other brands, as I will be sticking with Lansinoh. |

I have tried almost every breastpad on the shelves; even the Lansinoh ones (which state they are rated #1) are inferior to this product. These have excellent absorbancy and are very comfortable. I woke up with a wet shirt almost every night before I started using these! My favorite part is that the adhesive is only on one side, so you can easily fold them down to nurse without losing the “stickiness.” I have breastfed three babies, and I just discovered these on my third. It would have saved a lot of frusteration if I’d discovered them first!

I bought these in place of the disposable NUK pads. I found that wearing the disposables for more than a few hours would start to have an odor and that drove me crazy – maybe because the ventilation wasn’t good enough. Since buying these Udder Cover pads, I haven’t had that issue! I can wear these all day and not have issues with odors. I also love that you can wash them and they’re ready to go again instead of spending money each month on a 30 day (or more often, less) supply box – just pop them in the washer with all the newborn clothes washing you’re doing anyway!! I pump my milk instead of breastfeed directly and I haven’t had issues with leaking through these yet, and I’ve had as much as 7 hour gaps between pumping sessions.The downfall is that you can definitely tell you’re wearing them in a t-shirt if you have a thin nursing bra on, as they’re a little bit thicker than a disposable (although disposables were visible too). They do crumple a little bit after washing, but they do shape back easily…I’m sure if you ironed them they’d be good as new again. Overall I’ve been very happy with these, and you can’t beat the price! I bought 3 packages and have washed them over and over…no issues with them falling apart or anything. |

I give these a five-star rating because they are very comfortable nursing pads with the most bang for my buck. I also have used Medela’s cotton nursing pads, Nuk reusable pads (the kind vented on the back), and Pink Daisy’s organic cotton pads.The reason I am reording after a year of nursing with them is that they started to grow mold spots. All my washable nursing pads did, which I attribute to only having to wash my nursing pad stash 1x/week. I tried bleaching, and also tried bac-out, but those methods didn’t remove the mold. I have “thrown in the towel” on trying, and am going to purchase more.
The important thing to me is that these nursing pads are very comfortable, and are thinner than the Pink Daisy organic pads, which are very soft and absorbant compared to these Udder Cover brand. If you have a padded nursing bra, you can probably hide these from view, but don’t count on them to last more than 24 hours. I wear mine from after my morning shower until I nurse my baby the following morning, but when I was first starting out, I had to change them more often, of course, due to supply coming in stronger, and baby nursing more often.
For less than , I’m willing to invest in these again. They are a good product. I first got them via the website when I got their nursing cover (the “Udder Cover”) and the Milk Bands.

I usually bought disposable nursing pads, but I noticed that I wouldn’t leak very much, but the little I did leak I had to throw the whole nursing pad away and I felt like it was a lot of money when I wasn’t leaking very much. I know I needed pads because I did leak a little, but not enough to really fill a pad and I felt I was wasting money. I decided to give these a try and I LOVE THEM!!! Comfortable, soft, I can just wash them and reuse them as much as I need and if I don’t leak I can just wear them the next day. I will say, that if you are one to leak a lot, such as filling a pad, I don’t know how much these will hold.

I know it sounds strange… but after trying these out, I am seriously on cloud nine. With disposables, I felt really itchy, and it was just super uncomfortable. But with these, it’s almost like I’m not wearing one at all, and I was seriously giggling like an idiot the first day I wore them because I was secretly comfy. Another plus? I no longer have cramps that have literally put me on the floor and have sent me to the hospital for YEARS. I’ve done my research and read something about dioxins in disposables causing horrible cramps, but I wasn’t sure I could believe it. Now I can. Thank youuuuu, Charlie Banana!But besides the comfort level, they’re VERY easy to wash, and I’ve had no problems with stains whatsoever. They’re actually just as white as they were when I first received them in their packaging. And do you remember those nighttime leaks that cause embarrassing stains up the back of your underwear? Yeah, sounds gross, but it’s no problem with these. At all. No running, no leaks. They even stay in place with their nifty little wing snaps! They’re PERFECT. |

This is the second set of Charlie Banana pads that I have purchased. I purchased the panty liners first. I liked them so much that I decided to buy these pads. I have also purchased many other brands, so I could see which I liked the best. I have decided that I don’t really care for the glad rags brand. They bunch up, and easily leak through, and easily stain. However, these come clean really easily, and don’t need to be ironed like most of the reusable pads.
I would totally recommend these to any woman. They are super soft. I also haven’t had any problems with leaks with this brand. They are pretty, and yet come clean- no stains.
I will probably be purchasing more.

I was using disposable pads, which worked great, but were not so environmentally friendly. I had read that the re-usable washable pads generally tend to soak through, so I bought these just to use at home, intending to use the disposable pads when I go out. But I have not had any problems with soaking through at all. These are comfortable, and not super thick (but not as thin as the disposable ones…), so they don’t show through the bra. Overall, I’m happy with them.

As a lactation educator, I was excited to see this product offered on Amazon Vine. However, while it certainly has a use, the seemingly clever design is not at helpful as one would imagine. Firstly, for a small breasted woman, the product is HUGE. If you are large breasted this is probably appreciated, but this is definitely designed for more of a D cup than a B or C. While it would seem this shouldn’t matter, the product doesn’t mold to the breast well for a smaller woman.Also, the hole in the center to shield the nipple from the temperature (can be used hot or cold) is clever, I suppose, but if you have a sore nipple, that is sometimes where you want relief! Also, if you have a sore or damaged nipple the terry cloth cover is going to stick to the skin, since there is not hold there. The weakest part of this product though is that you can’t heat it in the microwave. You are meant to put it in hot water to heat it up. When I have a hot/cold pack (I usually use flax seeds), I keep it in the freezer, so it is ready to use cold, and if I want it warm, pop it in the microwave. If this were kept in the freezer, I can only imagine how many cycles of hot water it would have to go through before it could be useful. And if not kept in the freezer, there would be a quite a wait time before it would ready as well. I would not recommend just planning to use it in the microwave against instructions because the plastic is clearly not appropriate for this purpose. In general, I would see the only practical use for this product being for engorgement when cold is helpful. However, the best remedy for engorgement is to NURSE OFTEN!! This was a nice idea…but I think a sock full of flax or rice is just as useful. |

These work ok, and the pads are a nice inclusion.The cooling pads are refreshing, and the included pads help to avoid any cold burn. However the ointments (from modela and others that are specifically designed for sore nipples) seem to work better than the ice/heat treatment. While a hot shower seems to help with the milk production, these hot pads didn’t seem to do much of a difference.
For those women that might be interested: - these probably work best for large (circumference, not length) nipples.

The idea is good but it’s not living up to it’s promises. It takes a while to heat up and you must heat it up in hot water. You can’t microwave it so it’s not a convenient solution and it can only cover one area of the breast.These were okay for cold use however and did provide some relief to my aching breasts.

These are, by far, my wife’s favorite. We’ve tried many brands and even some washable types, but these are her favorite. They don’t ‘migrate’ like others tend to do. Other brands would actually come unstuck and fall out of her shirt at times. These stay attached and are the most comfortable for her. I have had 7 kids. I have tried several nursing pads, but none compare to Johnson’s. The pads are very absorbable. They are comfortable, and just the perfect thickness. They have a sticky pad on them so you can adhere them to your bra, but I never use the sticky pad. They have always just stayed in place for me. I will not use another brand.

I have tried almost every washable nursing pad on Amazon and these are the best ones I have used. I would suggest this product over the more popular ones out there (for instance the Bamboobies Bamboobies Variety 6 Pair Pack Super-soft Washable Nursing Pads: 3 pairs Regulars Multi-colors & 3 pairs Overnights ). Nursing pads only need to do two things – stay in place and absorb milk. The lace means they stay in place, and look fairly nice. In addition I have not had any problems with absorbency.

I bought these with hope that I could cut down on my disposable usage. Although they are quite soft, they do not retain my milk leakage at all. Once I feel my milk let down, I notice that it goes straight through the pad! Does not spread out at all.I might try another brand, but to play it safe, I’ll keep the disposables.

I have tried these inserts out a few times. I was surprised at how stiff the inserts are, the g diaper inserts are much softer and you can throw them in the toilet. Sadly these cannot go in the toilet. The idea behind these are that you can take these on vacations instead of disposables which is what I do instead of lugging smelly cloth diapers around. So I thought I would give this alternative a try. Because I have used the g diapers and have found them to be lacking I was hoping for something new. The disposables work and I didn’t have any leaks onto the baby’s clothes but if I had wanted to reuse the same diaper cover that wasn’t to be the case. Every time the disposable leaks onto Charlie Banana’s cover which would result in my having to wash it after every use, which defeats the purpose of not wanting to lug around smelly cloth diapers. |

I was enthusiastic to receive the disposable inserts of the Charlie Banana 2 in 1 diaper system, especially after receiving my first actual diaper in the mail. The diaper itself was incredibly soft, and I immagined it being perfect for my baby’s delicate skin. My positive expereince with the diaper compelled me to make inaccurate assumptions about the inserts. They arrived today and I could not be more disappointed! They literally are as rough as a few sheets of construction paper adhered together. I would never allow these to touch my baby’s skin because I could immagine that they would leave it chafed and raw. I also poured a little water on one to test its absorption. The water simply pooled in the crease. I cannot even fathom how this would hold up on an explosive diaper day. I am definitely sending these back.

It keeps you from leaking all over the place, what more do you want? Well, turns out I’m picky about little things that really don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. These are soft (which is nice) but I dislike the packaging. The little wrappers are harder to open than they used to be (back in 2009 when I did it the last time–I had some left to compare), the pads are folded in half which seems weird (and it takes a little pull to get them apart), and it seems like they should be packed as a circle. Also, I kind of understand the need, sanitation wise, to wrap them individually…but honestly? Just put them in a box like pantiliners or something and save the wrappers entirely. I didn’t breastfeed as long as I hoped to, so I didn’t get a lot of use out of these (my milk never really came in full force, so the regular pads sufficed) but they worked fine. Oh, except for the adhesive pads which were too small and not very adhesive.

New baby, four months old. Usual situation with my wife nursing.These are absorbent and certainly help stave off my wife’s nighttime surprise of waking up wet. So, they’re definitely worthwhile as they do exactly what they are made for.
Only frustration, for my wife, is that she usually doesn’t wear a bra or such in the night. These don’t stay in place without something there to keep them in place.

These do help with early breastfeeding and stinging breasts.My primary issue is they sting irritated nipples, yet they’re intended for sore nipples. I also don’t like that it has to be wiped off before feeding…this both further hurts them as well as adds the extra step to nursing: I have to get up to wash them, then get ready to feed. I store mine in freezer and pull them out a few minutes before using. They aren’t cold enough for me from fridge but are too cold straight from the freezer. |

I have to get this out of the way first: Go to Target and buy these. They’re 5-6 bucks for a pack of 50, WAY cheaper than Amazon’s current jacked up price!I normally useLansinoh 20265 Disposable Nursing Pads, 60-Count Boxes (Pack of 4), but I recently bought the Tommee Tippee brand, on a whim. They are very similar to Lansinoh brand, but wrapped in 2′s, instead of individually, which may seem insignificant, but makes it that much more convenient, and saves on waste. The pads are slightly thicker than Lansinoh, and have just one sticky strip, but it’s quite strong and I haven’t had one shift on me yet. Very comfortable and large enough to provide adequate coverage. Highly recommended for the breastfeeding Mom! |

I bought this variety pack based on all the great reviews. After wearing these and re-reading the reviews I’m wondering if something is wrong with me. These pads do not lay flat at all – the day or night ones and are completely obvious under my bra. Meanwhile, I never had that problem with the disposable pads. I have smaller breasts to begin with and am about a C-cup while nursing. Also, if you have any sort of residual wound on your nipples from the early nursing days, these will stick to your skin and pull off any kind of new skin that was healing. I had to wait until I was completely healed to wear these and even now, the pads often leave fuzzy material stuck to my nipple. I have to remove that before I nurse my baby. These pads are very soft but given the two big cons I just mentioned they are not worth the money to me at all and I would not recommend them. |

The regular pads are great, but note they will soak through if you leak a lot. You may need to swap them out during the day but they are thin and comfortable. The overnight ones are way to thick for me and if I need that extra absorbancy I use a disposible pad. The overnights don’t seem to wash well either. I wish I had purchased a 6 pack of just the regular ones. Also these were slightly different from bamboobies that I purchased at a boutique, these the stitching was a little lower quality.

I’ve been experimenting with nursing pads for months now. I’ve purchased a huge range of pads and none have been just right — too small, too bulky, too thin, oddly shaped, etc. So, I was resigned to the fact that there wasn’t one brand that would do the job, and I made due. And, I would often wake up un the morning soaking wet, or at the grocery store with a wet shirt, because the bulkiest pad still couldn’t manage. The most absorbant pad was the Bamboobie, presumably because it had bamboo fibres, but because of its awkward shape (and resulting small surface) I didn’t wear them too often.Although I was no longer actively shopping for pads, I saw these at a breastfeeding supply store in Canada a few weeks ago. I noticed them because they’re really BIG — definitely bigger than anything else I had seen to date. And, they’re bamboo, so I thought they might work well. After trying them out for a few days, I must say that these are AWESOME!! They are so absorbant, lasting through a full night and even into the day. They also cover a much larger surface of your breasts than the others so are less noticeable and are smooth and soft (and hold up really well in the wash). Really a superior product to all the others. Wish they were a bit cheaper, but I’ve invested in a few sets anyway because I have a really hard time putting up with the others now that I know how much better these are. Wish I had these from the start!! |

These nursing pads are awesome!! I love the large circumference, because that means more absorbency and they are less likely to shift out of place. They are great for both daytime and overnight. When I wear these I don’t have to worry about changing them out after every feeding (like I do with most other re-usable pads). The contoured shape is so smart! It helps it show less through clothing. I did an absorbency test with these and a few of my other pads. While most reusable pads held 4-5ml of water before they leaked (this includes Bamboobies daytime pads, which are for light leakers), these held 20ml! Now, disposables (Lansinoh) held 40ml, but disposable anything will hold more than cloth. I WAY prefer these to disposables!

These are wonderful. I have the bamboo ones. I had given up on reusable nursing pads after trying two other brands that didn’t work well. Luckily I decided to try these, because I love them. They are really soft and there’s no lint sticking to my nipples. They are absorbent and have a breathable nearly waterproof backing so your bra doesn’t get wet but your boobs don’t feel hot and clammy. (I don’t think it would be completely waterproof, but so far I’ve been dry. I use it to catch the letdown on the other side when I’m nursing and can use the same one all day.) They don’t bunch up in the wash like the other one I tried, so it sits nice in my bra and is not noticeable under clothing (within limits–you would see them if you were really looking, or wearing an unlined nursing bra and a tight fitting, light colored t-shirt). Overall I’m really happy with these. I use their cloth diapers too and love all their products.

I leak a lot. A friend recommended I try these so I went and bought 3 pairs (the starter kit and 2 additional pairs). At first They seemed to work ok, but the milk would pool up so if I went to nurse and forgot to let the milk out, I’d end up with a mess down my shirt.These are terrible for nursing in public if you dont use a nursing cover. At home they are ok cuz you have privacy. Its easier to fold down regular disposable or cloth breast pads in public than to have to carefully remove the lilypadz.
After about a month of use with daily cleaning with the lilywash and hot water, they started leaking. So I switched to a new pair – same problem. So everytime I went to burp my baby (on the shoulder of the side I hadnt nurssed on) I would end up soaking myself and my baby. Milky Mess!
I will hold on to these and hope they work better when Im not quite so milky (my son is 3 months old right now).
If you do any of the following, I would reconsider: 1)nurse in public without a cover 2)leak a lot 3)expect them to stay sticky longer than a month

I’m a very heavy milk producer, and these guys just can’t hold up. I got a set when my first was maybe a year old; they helped, but not 100%, and nobody wants to be at work when they fail — so, I gave them up. With my second, when I started leaking around 20 weeks, I got a new set to get me through nights so I wouldn’t have to wear a bra and be even more uncomfortable at night! They got me through a month or so, but that was all — just the leaks I had overnight couldn’t be stopped by these. I’d wake up with the lily pad still on, but the colostrum all over the sheets 
. They just don’t seem to stay sticky enough. I found the alcohol wipes did a better job of keeping them sticky than the foam wash did, but still not enough. Since they couldn’t even contain me while pregnant, I’ve tossed them – they don’t stand a chance against a real let down, which for me soaks a cloth diaper in minutes. (I can fill a 5 oz bottle simply by catching two letdowns. And I’m not bragging, it’s a PITA – I’m grateful I can feed my son, but boy that’s a lot of fluid to deal with. I mention it to give others who are considering buying it a benchmark: if you do this, then the lily padz don’t work).I do have very large breasts and very large nipples, and the lily pad doesn’t quite cover the areola. Maybe they would be more effective on a smaller breast, I don’t know. But for large breasts, and heavy letdowns, they’re nearly useless.

These are an absolute lifesaver for me when my baby arrived. My son was moderately tongue-tied which created difficulties with achieving a proper latch during breastfeeding. The first couple days of breastfeeding were excruciating as a result, and i quickly developed scabs on my nipples. I tried lanolin, aquaphor, the Medela gel pads, Lansinoh Soothies, and these Ameda Gel Pads. I definitely prefer the gel pads over the lanolin and other creams. Of Medela, Lansinoh, and Ameda, the Amedas are by far the best hydrogel pads. After my son’s tongue-tie was fixed and we were able to get a good latch, these pads helped heal my nipples in about a day and a half.Medela Hydrogel – very sticky and can be painful to remove from damaged tissue. Lasted only 1 day for me before they had to be tossed Lansinoh Soothies – Nice and comforting initially but again, only lasted 1 day. THey are made with glycerin which left a sweet tasting residue on my breasts which had to be carefully washed off before each feeding. I can tell when I missed a spot because my baby would try to lick off any sweet-tasting residue remaining on my breasts. Ameda Pros - Long lasting. This is the biggest pro for me by far. They lose their cool stickiness after a day or so of wear, but rinse in warm water and they become much restored. Not 100%, but comforting and usable again. They cost about the same as the Medela and Lansinoh pads but last me 3-4 days, making these much more cost effective than the other brands - Thicker and more cushiony than other brands - Plastic sheets protect the pads when not in use. This helps a lot to prevent the pads from picking up dust and losing their stickiness Ameda Cons: - they have a distinct smell when first opened. The smell is hard to describe, vaguely sharp and chemically but not terribe. The smell is moderately strong, much more so than the Medela or Lansinoh Hydrogel pads. The smell clings to breasts and must be washed off before feeding - They shrink over several days of wearing and can get a bit grimy |

I like these the best of all the hydrogel pads I’ve tried (Medela was way too sticky on tender skin for example). They are a good size (though they do shrink up as the week goes on as they lose moisture). You rinse them off after using and put each one back in their own clear plastic liner until next use– it’s nice that they come with a place to keep them. I put them back slightly damp after rinsing, to slow the moisture loss. Sometimes I store them in the fridge for cooling relief. These pads also put a little pressure on the nipple so you don’t leak milk ( at least that’s true for me). Good price here even adding tax– a couple dollars cheaper than Babies r Us– where I live. Ah my punctuation/grammar is horrible but I have infant boy/ girl twins & not a lot of sleep lately!

I packed these in my hospital bag before giving birth to my daughter and was thankful for that! My baby had trouble latching on at first, making my nipples sore and cracked. These gel pads were a HUGE help in those early days – if I hadn’t had some kind of relief, I might have given up breastfeeding. Not only did these help with my sore nipples, but they were also great when my milk came in and I was engorged. And they’re even better if you cool them in the fridge first! Just make sure to gently wash them after each use – if you’re nipples have open cracks or sores, you can risk infection by trapping the bacteria between the pad and your breast, only prolonging the healing process. I don’t use the pads much anymore now that my daughter and I have established good breastfeeding techniques, but I always keep these on hand just in case!

I was wondering if I would be one of those that leaks even with these, but I’m not. They are awesome. So comfy and absorbent. They do show through on solid colored tight shirts, but if there is a pattern the line is disguised. They absorb everything even when its been a long time between feedings. Very easy to clean. They will pill a little but other than that they are wonderful!! On their website they sell them without patterns too.

I first saw a “menstrual cup” when on a business trip in a small granola-type shop and was surprised to learn how few women use them. After much research (youtube has a gal with videos showing how to use the item and the differences between brands and sizes) I decided on the Lunette model 2. Those of you new to this item may be interested in the decisions behind my choice so I will briefly list them below.1. If the medical silicon used to make the cup is very soft, the cup could have trouble ‘popping open’ after being inserted. Knowing that any slips or difficulties using this product could damage my excitement for it, I didn’t want to take any chances! The Lunette brand is made with a firmer silicon. Don’t worry, you won’t be bothered by it when wearing it. 2. The Finnish make this brand and historically and traditionally these people seem to really understand design and seem to think progressively about female needs. 3. This cup can be worn for up to 12 hours because it is composed of medical grade silicon. Since the average workday is usually shorter, this time span allows the wearer to change their cup in the comfort of their own home depending on the amount of flow. 4. The company states that this product can last 10 YEARS with proper care! Why aren’t there more products with this kind of longevity? (like cell phones…). If this holds true, think of all the savings. 5. TSS is not a possibility when using this product!!! Speaks for itself. 6. You can sleep with it inserted. No more stained sheets and beds!
Okay, now before you get carried away, there is a learning curve with the cup and you will have to retrain yourself how to use it as mindlessly and regularly as tampons and pads, especially in public restrooms (on video). I recommend trying it before your period starts (totally possible and safe). Again, reference the video and watch the woman demonstrate with the clear glass tube. It sits lower than tampons and you may need to cut the bottom tip off for comfort (also explained by the youtube woman). You’ll be surprised how comfortable it is. Getting the thing out takes getting used to as well as you have to squeeze it to break the vacuum seal it creates when inserted into the body. If you can adjust to these minor things, you will love this item. I wish I had heard about it when I started my period! If I had I probably wouldn’t have hated the whole ordeal as much.

I have sat on my hands for years in regards purchasing and using a menstrual cups. I first started using Instead softcups disposable inserts but it wasn’t a good product for me because (warning TMI) every time I have a bowel movement or a big surge of cramp overcomes me, it shifts the Instead softcups to shift and I will leak big time. So I graduated to Mooncups UK (which I obtained through clandestine means). It was better and provided a great seal but at times, the seal will be too tight and I would struggle to remove it and for me the Mooncup UK was a bit thick when trying to fold it and insert it (I tend to tense up). I tried a variety of cups until I found a Lunette cup on sale at a e-tailer.What I like about the Lunette is that it was flexible for me to fold and insert. It provided a solid seal but it was easy for me to remove to dispose of the contents. That means I could dispose of the contents in a public bathroom without leave the bathroom stall looking like a crime scene. I also liked the fact that is based on the seal, I rarely leak, even if I flex my Kegel muscles, or have a great big sneeze. I order a large because I tend to experience a heavy menstrual cycle in the first two days. What I noticed for me is that ever since of using a menstrual cup, my periods are shorter (last about 4 to 5 days instead of 7 to 8 days), my menstrual cramps are less painful, and I can work out while using the menstrual cup, unlike a tampon which shifts every time I engage my core. Granted this menstrual cup brand may not work for every one but I encourage every woman to at least look into the various brands such as MeLuna, Yuuki, Mooncup UK, etc. I plan to purchase another one because previous one was inadvertently thrown out *grrrrr*.

These pads have many good qualities. They are soft, leakproof, very thin.The bad qualities are the shape and the fact that they are SO thin(yes, this is good and bad). The problem I have with the shape surprised me. I thought it was a brilliant plan, I’m guessing the problem is because since I am a smaller lady(B cup size) the heart shape has to do lots of ‘cupping’ to get in place so there ends up being a crease along the v of the heart…not real discreet. While we’re talking about discreet…there are times that the thinness of these pads makes nursing nipples less than discreet. I can see how both of these issues are not a big deal for bigger chested ladies.
I have bought the Phillips lace-backed washable nursing pads (that are 6 for .99 on Amazon) and been happy with them…they are smaller and thicker, and even though they look very ‘disc-like’, I haven’t had any problems with them showing through clothes.

These pads are the fourth brand I’ve tried, after Lansinoh and Gerber Ultra-Thin (both disposables) and some washable cloth pads (I forget the brand), and in my experience these are the absolute best. Each type of pad I tried prior had pros and cons, but I have no complaint at all about the Johnson’s pads.I’m wearing them for both day and night, and even after wearing one set all night my bra, shirt, and skin were dry despite the pads being completely saturated. With the other brands, I regularly woke up with everything wet. Regarding daytime wear, I occasionally leaked around the Gerber pads and the cloth pads, as they were relatively small and also did not stay in place; the Lansinoh pads were larger in diameter and had adhesive to keep them in place, but I sometimes leaked through them. Neither of those situations has occurred with the Johnson’s pads. These pads have remained in place flawlessly, even without using the adhesive strip, and they are not noticeable under my clothing. They feel so completely comfortable that I am able to forget they are there. They can contain a much larger amount of moisture, and they are soft and perfectly shaped for me. The only thing I would change about the Johnson’s pads would be to have them individually wrapped like the Lansinoh pads, so that I can carry a spare set in my purse. In light of all the good things about this pad, though, that’s a very minor concern. |

The contour is great, and the absorbency is fine, but my complaint is the nipple shape, which you can see through your shirt. I try to not have visibly protruding nipples, which I didn’t have, so Johnson’s provided them for me.

I am a first time Mom and had no clue what a sprinkler system I was going to end up with in my bra after having a baby. These nursing pads are wonderful! They come with just a little bit of adhesive on the back which keeps them in place and they keep your clothes completely dry. I never had any irritation from breast feeding and I think that part of that was due to the quality of these nursing pads.
